About the department

The Department of Bengali was established in 1964. The Honours stream was introduced 4 years later. The departmental library has a collection of 300 books. To give a well-rounded education to the students of this department in addition to the academic courses cultural programmes are employed. The entire department participates on Bhasha Dibas (Celebration of the Mother Tongue) at times with a seminar graced by eminent personalities, at others with variety functions ( musical events, dance dramas, recitation, etc.). This department prides itself on the large number of student who pursue higher studies.
